Newest virtual restaurant from LEYE, Grubhub opens in Chicago
Padma’s Curry Leaf launched Wednesday in Chicago as the third virtual restaurant from Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, or LEYE, and Grubhub available for delivery only.
The new Indian concept will join two other virtual restaurants in LEYE’s portfolio, including a Bon Appetit brand opened in September and the Whole30 concept from August of 2019.
All three virtual brands are available for delivery only through Grubhub in Chicago, and are operated out of the LEYE kitchens Stratford on the Park in the River North and Lincoln Park neighborhoods.
The Padma’s concept was inspired by Bharathi “Bonnie” Rao, a native of India and retired teacher who sought to create authentic dishes for her daughter, Padma. Unable to find ingredients she needed, she began growing them in her back yard, along with cilantro, okra, cauliflower and eggplant. That led to the launch of a curry leaf business, now called Perryville Farms, which sells certified organic curry leaves across the U.S.
Available for lunch and dinner, the menu is inspired by classic dishes ranging from baked samosas to Chicken Tikka Masala to Saag Paneer. Everything on the menu is under $16.
Padma’s Curry Leaf donates a portion of every purchase to Step Up Women’s Network, a charity that empowers girls in under-resourced communities
